Reclaiming Our Voice
Our Essence
We are a coalition of Pan-African feminists reclaiming the power of speech to dismantle stigma and ensure gender justice for all.
Neno Huru emerged from the urgent need to bridge the gap between harmful external labels and the authentic self-definitions of African women and gender minorities. Our journey began across Tanzania, Kenya, and Rwanda, uniting six organizations under the leadership of GenDAR to build a digital sanctuary where community-owned knowledge is finally validated and preserved for future generations.
Today, we facilitate regional convenings and community-led research to document the diverse histories of trans, intersex, and queer individuals. Our digital infrastructure serves as a living archive, ensuring narrative sovereignty and linguistic decolonization remain at the heart of the movement.
